Grammar
-Make sure you dot your I’s and cross your t’s. Use PUNCTUATION and try your best to make sure its correct, at least the basics.
The period - Use it, don’t run whole paragraphs into one long sentence. Make sure each sentence comes to a complete and understandable end. You don’t want others to have to read 10 times before figuring out what you meant.
The comma- This is to put small descriptive add-ons into a sentence…you will use them around the things the sentence could hold up on its own without…the extras.
------ ex- She walked, her dress flowing, into the street.
(Ellipse- the 3 dots ...- This represents an expressed pause in speech or thought. Always THREE dots.
- Common misuse of words
Lose and loose
You lose something.
You make the belt loose.
Chose and choose
She chose him.
You choose the wine tonight.
They’re, Their and There
They’re coming to the party. (They’re - They are)
Their shoes are blue.
There are cars everywhere.
Are and Our
They are coming.
It is our water hose.
Breath and breathe
I held my breath.
I can't breathe under water.
Accept and except
I will accept your money.
I like everything except the pickles.
Then and than
I went to the store, then back home.
I like soda better than milk.
Your and you're
Your bike is in the way.
